Convert Meters per Minute to Millimeters per Second

Formula

mm/s = m/min × 16.66666666667

Derivation from SI units:

• 1 m/min = 1 m ÷ 60 s (equivalently 1 m³/min of flow per 1 m² of cloth)
• 1 mm/s = 0.001 m ÷ 1 s = 1 L/(m²·s)
• 1 m/min = 0.01666666666667 m/s ÷ 0.001 m/s per mm/s = 16.66666666667 mm/s

Both units are defined exactly, so the factor is exact. Meter per Minute definition: meter per minute; Millimeter per Second definition: millimeter per second.

Worked examples

1. A reading of 1.5 m/min converts to 25 mm/s.
   1.5 m/min × 16.66666667 = 25 mm/s
2. A value of 10 m/min is 166.6666667 mm/s.
   10 m/min × 16.66666667 = 166.6666667 mm/s

Where it's used

Meters per Minute are used for baghouse and dust-collector air-to-cloth ratio (pulse-jet ≈ 1–2 m/min), while millimeters per second appear in air permeability of fabrics, nonwovens and papers (ISO 9237, EN ISO 9237). Both measure face velocity and air permeability (volumetric flow per unit area), so the conversion is a fixed factor.
