    1 g/cm³ = 1000 kg/m³

gram per cubic centimeter to kilogram per cubic meter →

    Convert between kg/m³, g/cm³ (g/mL), kg/L, g/L, mg/L, lb/ft³, lb/in³ and lb/gal. Density links mass and volume: ρ = m / V.

    Density, specific gravity and concentration

Specific gravity is density divided by the density of water (about 999.97 kg/m³ at 4 °C), so a value in g/cm³ is very close to specific gravity. mg/L is a mass concentration; in dilute water solutions it is roughly equal to ppm by mass.

    Density unit definitions

    kilogram per cubic meter (kg/m³)
The kilogram per cubic metre (kg/m³) is the SI unit of density. Water near room temperature is about 998 kg/m³ and air at sea level about 1.2 kg/m³.
    gram per cubic centimeter (g/cm³)
The gram per cubic centimetre (g/cm³, equal to g/mL) is a common laboratory density unit. Water is about 1 g/cm³, which makes the number equal to specific gravity to a good approximation.
    kilogram per liter (kg/L)
The kilogram per litre (kg/L) equals g/cm³. Fuel and chemical densities are often quoted this way.
    gram per liter (g/L)
The gram per litre (g/L) is exactly 1 kg/m³. It is also used for concentrations of dissolved substances.
    milligram per liter (mg/L)
The milligram per litre (mg/L) is a mass concentration, 0.001 kg/m³. In dilute water solutions it is roughly equal to parts per million (ppm) by mass.
    pound per cubic foot (lb/ft³)
The pound per cubic foot (lb/ft³, pcf) is the US customary density unit, about 16.02 kg/m³. Water is about 62.4 lb/ft³.
    pound per cubic inch (lb/in³)
The pound per cubic inch (lb/in³) is used for metal and plastic densities in US engineering, about 27 680 kg/m³.
    pound per gallon (lb/gal)
The pound per US gallon (lb/gal, ppg) is about 119.83 kg/m³. Water weighs about 8.34 lb/gal. Reference: Per US gallon (231 in³).
