About Scientific Converters
Scientific Converters is a free unit converter for scientists, engineers, technicians and students. It focuses on the units that come up in laboratories, HVAC, filtration, process engineering and materials testing, and on getting every digit right.
What makes it different
- Exact factors with sources. Every one of the 145 units stores its factor to the SI base unit, exactly where the unit is defined exactly, together with the document it comes from (mostly NIST SP 811 and the BIPM SI Brochure).
- Stated reference conditions. Units that depend on a liquid column or on gas conditions, such as inches of water, mmHg, sccm and SLPM, say which reference they use on every page.
- Decimal arithmetic. Conversions are calculated with 50 significant digits and rounded only for display, so results never pick up binary floating-point errors.
- Pages written for each conversion. Examples, tables and usage notes are written for the field each conversion is used in, not generated from a template.
