Application Rate Converter (kg/ha, lb/acre): convert between 7 application rate units, for example 1 kg/ha = 0.8921791216 lb/acre.
| Unit | Value |
|---|---|
| kilogram per hectare (kg/ha) | 1 kg/ha |
| kilogram per hectare to gram per hectare | 1000 g/ha |
| kilogram per hectare to gram per square meter | 0.1 g/m² |
| kilogram per hectare to quintal per hectare | 0.01 q/ha |
| kilogram per hectare to tonne per hectare | 0.001 t/ha |
| kilogram per hectare to pound per acre | 0.8921791216 lb/acre |
| kilogram per hectare to pound per 1000 square feet | 0.02048161436 lb/1000 ft² |
Convert fertiliser, seed and pesticide rates and crop yields between kg/ha, lb/acre, q/ha, t/ha, g/m², g/ha and lb/1000 ft². 1 lb/acre = 1.12085 kg/ha, and 1 q/ha = 100 kg/ha.
Nutrient versus product
Recommendations such as 120:60:40 kg/ha give nutrients (N, P₂O₅, K₂O), not fertiliser. Urea is 46 % N, so 120 kg N/ha needs 120 ÷ 0.46 = 261 kg urea/ha. Convert the units first, then divide by the nutrient fraction.
Application Rate unit definitions
- kilogram per hectare (kg/ha)
- Kilograms per hectare are the standard unit for fertiliser, seed and pesticide rates and for crop yield. A typical Indian recommendation for wheat is 120 kg N, 60 kg P₂O₅ and 40 kg K₂O per hectare.
- quintal per hectare (q/ha)
- Quintals per hectare are the everyday Indian unit for crop yield: a quintal is 100 kg, so wheat at 35 q/ha is 3.5 tonnes per hectare.
- tonne per hectare (t/ha)
- Tonnes per hectare express crop yields and bulky inputs such as farmyard manure (10–25 t/ha) and soil loss in erosion studies.
- pound per acre (lb/acre)
- Pounds per acre are the US unit for fertiliser, seed and pesticide rates: 1 lb/acre ≈ 1.121 kg/ha, so the two are often treated as nearly equal.
- gram per square meter (g/m²)
- Grams per square metre suit small plots, nurseries, lawns and pot trials; 10 g/m² equals 100 kg/ha.
- gram per hectare (g/ha)
- Grams per hectare express the active ingredient (a.i.) of modern low-dose herbicides and insecticides.

- pound per 1000 square feet (lb/1000 ft²)
- Pounds per 1000 square feet are the US turf and lawn unit: 1 lb N/1000 ft² ≈ 48.8 kg N/ha.
